The Society is a member society of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies and was formed in 1995 and is now a thriving and active Society which now has about 160 members. Our members come from the Bridgwater, Burnham on Sea and Weston super Mare districts. Many come from even further afield.

Each year the committee arranges a varied and interesting programme which includes nine lectures, Special Interest Days, visits and sometimes a longer visit of several days. We have active groups of Heritage Volunteers and Church Recorders. The Society also supports Young Arts.

The Society’s year begins in February. Lectures are held at the “37 Club”, Puriton, Bridgwater, situated in the grounds of what was the old Royal Ordnance factory, off Junction 23 of the M5. It is easy to find being half way between Puriton and Woolavington. The large room allows everyone to enjoy the images which are projected with the latest technology, that usually accompany the lectures.

The lecturers are always specialists and experts in their subject. Lectures are on such topics as furniture, painting, woodcarving, jewellery, fabrics and tapestries, Christmas traditions, music and musicians to name but a few.
